I am just curious. It seems that every time I turn on the TV there is more bad news. How are the recent happenings in the world affecting your desire to travel? Will that make you not want to travel at all, or just be cautious about the destinations you choose?

There will always be places in the world that I do not wish to visit, regardless of the current strife. Grateful to live in Canada! Just a note to anyone travelling to the U.K. I needed to rent a car and after much tedious searching finally booked through car crawler.com and got a better deal. So many variables with car rental companies......

I always try to be aware and careful in any destination. It's good to follow the news as it relates to travel and to keep up-to-date on various countries advisories, but I will always want to travel and don't believe in letting fear get the best of me.

I agree and find that many destinations are portrayed and being unsafe but when you are there they don't feel unsafe. As long as you are careful and sensible you will be fine.

Last time I was in Athens, there was a demonstration, but I had watched the new on TV and knew that the subway would be closed at a certain time,so I planned my day accordingly. Try to stay informed about current happenings in the city you are in.
